Petitions for Residency Reclassification

For all residency reclassification petitions:

  • Students must be registered for the term/session for which they are seeking reclassification, and
  • Petitions must be submitted by mail or in-person; Electronic submissions will not be accepted.
SUMMER I:Please be advised that the Summer I 2026 petition submission cycle has closed.
SUMMER II:Residency reclassification petitions for Summer II 2026 will be accepted from May 26 to July 13.
FALL:Residency reclassification petitions for Fall 2026 will be accepted from June 2 to August 31.

Taking Courses at Another Institution

The transfer course database is continually being updated. If you are a current undergraduate student looking to take classes elsewhere this summer, make sure to follow your college's Permission to Enroll process.

Register for Summer Session

Make progress and earn UMD credits this summer through flexible 3- or 6-week sessions—in person or online. Current UMD students simply register. All other students must first apply.
